"Discover Battery Lock – the digital additional protection for your eBike battery. If it is stolen, this feature will deactivate your battery and render it useless to thieves. This protects one of the most expensive components on your eBike and allows you to park it with greater peace of mind. Battery Lock is the first feature in the eBike market that can protect your battery in this manner. You can exclusively obtain it with the Flow+ subscription."

There are two significant catches:

1. You must have a newer smart system bike
2. You must pay for the Flow+ app subscription ($34.99 1 year or $3.99 1 month)

The Verge has talked about this (and complained) because they feel like this shouldn't be behind a subscription. Now, I don't fully disagree since Bosch includes the eBike Lock for free. This function disables the motor until your phone or Kiox display unlocks the bike. Is there something unique about the Battery Lock that requires the GPS module (called Connect Module)?

Some other thoughts - how would a thief know if your battery is protected or not until they steal it? Also, why are people still leaving batteries on their bikes these days?

I've reached out to my Bosch contacts and will update this once I know more!
