To wax or not to wax?

I've posted in the Orox group so we shall see if he bites 🙂

To wax or not to wax?

Yeah he's the one that's made me consider it. I always thought it was a road bike thing only. Didn't want to bother him but might send him a DM.

To wax or not to wax?

The thing here is that I ride the bike through thick claggy mud and ride grit stone trails daily. Will wax work for me?

To wax or not to wax?

I changed my Orox chain 'again' today, this time lasting just 1,100km... It has been a very muddy winter but I really need to do something to make the chain last longer. I've seen a few running waxed chains in poor weather and road conditions. So, what do you think, is it worth investing in?

    ISIS cranks. Click investigation.

Is it normal that my cranks are tightening all the way down onto the circlip? I kinda just presumed they sat on the taper only. There was even a little bit of s I'm trying to investigate a click from the non drive side of the bike now and noticed the circlip has spun at some point and dug into...

    Can we talk tyre pressures?

I know it's really subjective but can we talk tyre pressures? Front: 29x2.8 running 1.5bar maxxis rekon Rear: 27.5x4 running 0.9bar Johnny Watts It feels really nice but I keep getting told I look like I'm running flats. I don't know anything about what fat tyres can do or what people would...

Transmission issues after replacing the chain. Orox s12.

Yeah I think I'm at 3700km now but it's more the awful conditions I ride in. Hard to keep up with chain maintenance when commuting in winter too. Yeah I know what you mean with the bars, it was a big change for me too. I really like them now though. Never been too fused about suspension due to...

Bosch Announces "Battery Lock" Function for Smart System eBikes

Ahh I see. Yeah it's a thriving industry over here unfortunately. I could get a frame mounted Bosch battery off within 10sec with a screwdriver and a small hammer, makes far less noise than cutting a lock or bike stand.

    Anyone have these pedals?

I'm a shift worker, commuting through a forest each day so I do have a lot of dark back lanes and super muddy forest. Might work 🤷

Bosch Announces "Battery Lock" Function for Smart System eBikes

That's interesting especially if you're London based. I live in Sheffield and know a few people that have had their Bosch batteries stolen. Really common on the FB pages too. There's a whole industry built around Bosch battery theft!

    Anyone have these pedals?

I've never seen the middle ones before. I like a super spiky deep dish pedal for all the mud.

    Top winter gear

I have a load to left over motorcycle gear from my pre ebike days that I still use. One being motorcycle panniers, properly waterproof and cheaper than the bike specific stuff. A good set of winter motorcycle gloves can work fantastic and most of all for the snow, Motocross goggles with stay fog...

    Frozen locks?

I'm sure there's all sorts of reasons you shouldn't use WD-40 for this but the reality is, I rode 10 harsh winters on motorcycles and never had an issue with WD-40, it blasts out all the water (that might freeze) and seems to last long enough that you only need to do it a few times per winter.

    Winter Cargo Bike Photo Share

I guess you're after bikes in snow but this is the more common reality of UK winter cycling. Boggy, muddy mess sunk to your cranks. But if it's clear you're kinda riding in the golden hour for most of the day due to the low midday sun which is lovely.

    Anyone have these pedals?

I wish there was a proper MTB version of these.
