Hi all!
I m a mom of 3 in SATX. I started bike commuting pre kids in DC in 2011 and was hooked- it saved me 25$ a week! We have since lived and bike commuted in Tallahasee (where my husband got an ma in urban planning), madison, wi (where we started riding with 1 kid), Austin tx (got into mtn biking and bought our first cargo bike— a R&m packster 40). We chose our location in Satx for it’s walkability and bike ability— even though it’s got a long way to go it has good bones being an older city. We have been able to be a one car family for two years. Our r&m was stolen (sad) so then we got a bullitt harry vs Larry but it wasn’t electrified and my taller kids fought constantly while being next to each other in the box. We then ordered an xtracycle stoker (our first new cargo bike) and love it. My kids still bicker some on the long tail seat but it’s way less than when side by side. I’ve started getting into bike advocacy here and am gathering momentum. My part-time paid work is in environmental conservation and I’m hoping to do more w bike community building. Love to see and hear all the things y’all are doing. Pictured is one of our bike bus days.
