Hi, everyone! I'm kf.
I live in Portland, OR and have been riding e-bikes for a little over 10 years now, ever since I moved to this town and went car-free! However, I only recently got my first cargo e-bike--a Specialized Globe Haul ST--last year.
A big motivator for me was my puppy. I live in the city and wanted to be able to carry him around, which wasn't really possible on my existing bikes: a Bike Friday Diamond Llama and a custom Zinn commuter bike. I also found myself relying on ride share more often than I'd like, given that I don't drive. I'm committed to living car-free so went with a cargo bike, instead!
I loved everything about the Tern HSD, but raising a puppy, I wanted a short-tail bike with a decent cargo area up front while he was little and poorly-trained (
). So, I went with the Globe Haul, instead!
I live in an apartment in the inner city, though, (yes! with three bikes! including an 80-pound cargo bike!
) so may very well end up trading it in for an HSD in the future.
