I don't own a cargo bike, but get a similar result by using a bike trailer when I need to carry more than can fit in panniers.
I live in a suburb a bit south of Boston, and a few years back decided to try to get more movement in my life by biking over driving for short trips. I came up with criteria to judge a trip. If it:
  • Is under 5 miles (now extended to maybe 8-10)
  • Without passengers
  • Daytime
  • Under 20 lbs of cargo (now extended with bike trailer)
  • good weather (no rain or snow, etc.)

to consider a bike over a car.

Absolutely love that you joined the community! Share some photos of your trailer setup

I'll get some pics when I can. Its The Burley Travoy: there model that looks a lot like a 2 wheel hand-truck, and can easily be detached for shopping. I bought that allow to use any bag to attach to the upper and lower attachment points.
