Hello everyone!
My cargo bike journey started in March of 2023 when I dipped my toes into the water with a Lectric XP 3.0. My oldest son was 3 at the time, and over the next year and a half I put 1600 miles on the bike, many of which were taking him to/from school.
Driving my car became more and more irritating because I loved every minute on the bike. However, despite Lectric’s great customer support, I was tired of wrenching on the thing all the time and knew I wanted to upgrade.
So in October of 2024 I took advantage of the killer close out deal on the CERO One - a belt drive mini-cargo bike with high quality Shimano components.
WOW. What a change. I was worried I would miss the Class 3 speeds and throttle, but the smooth and quiet ride more than makes up for it. The range on the bike is also insane given the size of the battery. It is a very efficient system, and I’ve put over 800 miles on it so far. Rides like a dream.
But life marches on, and with the birth of our daughter about a month ago, I began the search for a cargo bike that could carry two. I reeeallly wanted to invest in a front loader, but after realizing how difficult it would be to transport/store, I landed on the gold standard Tern GSD - nearly done purchasing a used S00 LX I found nearby.
Bike Shop Girl’s videos & interviews about Tern were super helpful in my latest purchase, particularly her interview with Josh Hon here.
Getting into electric cargo bikes has helped me fall in love with my (VERY car dependent) city by discovering tiny parks, beautiful spots I’ve driven quickly by, and connecting me with like minded neighbors. I have hope that when my son is older, getting around by bike isn’t so bizarre and maybe even is the new norm.
Looking forward to some great discussions in this forum. Thanks for setting it up Arleigh!
