This is far from your average bikepacking or adventure story. I've debated about sharing it here so feel free to pull it out if it doesn't fit Arliegh. Four years ago, my wife and 40yr+ partner Teri, was hit and killed trying to walk across the street leaving her job in Stillwater Oklahoma. As a part of the fallout from that, I sold our lifetime home (which, from a bike community perspective, was also the location of #Keithsbikefort), retired early, and made plans to relocate to Colorado to live near our kids. To say it was all a blur would be a profound understatement, and all I knew for sure was I needed to relocate on my cargobike. So that's what I did. The trip was 650 ish miles over 2 1/2 weeks. As miserable as the riding was some days, it proved to be the best thing I could have possibly done for myself.

I apologize that the story is imbedded into a series of blog posts-I was writing primarily to friends and family as a way of keeping them updated on my progress and my mental condition. But if you manage to wade thru all that, in the end I hope you'll find a story that reminds us of what many of us already know; what bicycles can do for us is pure magic.

To navigate the blog in the correct order: At the end of each post, you'll see a published date. Just below that is the link to the next post.
