Well, the suburbs, but you know how it is.
Hi there! I'm not a happy cargo bike owner yet, but I'm hoping to be one soon. To make a long story somewhat less long, I've recently escaped an abusive household and moved in with my girlfriend and her family, somewhere in the smattering of the Hanover Park/Schaumburg area. As such, I'm only really starting to live for myself. They're wonderful and accommodating and have all but adopted me, and I want to try being more independent where I can. It's a household of nine including myself, and the more experienced adults are near-constantly busy with work and ferrying all their kids to school and appointments and so on. My girlfriend is disabled and can't get out much on her own, and I'd like to solve that problem for the both of us, along with being able to take myself to work or classes in the future.
Due to how disastrously my parents handled my driver's ed, I can't stomach the idea of being behind the wheel of one. The options I had to consider that could take a passenger and lug my stuff and groceries around was a motorcycle or an e-bike, and when I asked the question on Bluesky I got pointed here, so I'll take a chance on a cargo e-bike being what works. I don't have the greatest sense of how good the bike infrastructure is out here in my area, but sightseeing while being driven around, it seems... okay?
I only have so much money to my name to invest into my future but I think I want the Tern GSD for the all-encompassing car replacement?
