Tern GSD Gen 2 Cargo Bike Review

I love a Tern GSD as much as the next person, but an Aventon Abound is not $2499. The list price is $1999, and frequently on sale for less. The Aventon bike has its quirks and not nearly as refined as a tern, but it is a a lot of bike for the price.

Good catch. I originally wrote this when the abound was $2200 + 200 for local build.

Okay, just wanted to point that out. I didn't see this in your review, but the ability to stand the bike up on its rear and change a flat tire is really an incredible feature that some of the budget bikes don't have. I used to be pretty concerned about flat tires and the ability to work on the bike on the side of the road, but now I just pull onto the sidewalk, put it on its back and have easy access to both tires.

I also have had 2 freehub failures on my bike (7500 miles on the odometer). It seems like there might be a new version of the freehub that may have solved this issue. Currently I am building a new rear wheel on a hope pro 5 e-hub.

Some local people have had issues with the seat handle pulling the rails out of the seat. DO NOT LIFT THE BIKE BY THE SEAT HANDLE. I somehow knew this before i bought the bike so my seat has never been a problem. The stock seat works really well for me, I find it very comfortable compared to seats on other cargo/city bikes.
