I have a love and hate relationship with the enviolo hub. I recently got the headlight button fixed, which the LBS I believe had to drop the motor and mess with all the cables. Now my shifting is crappy, and the internet tells me it is super sensitive to cable kinks and bends. This section looks particularly bad, what does this look like on your bike? A Facebook post suggested I even run the shift cable externally.

@Bostoncargodad - what is the clear wiring coming out?

The photo of the cable bundle doesn't look ideal, but the shifter's housing doesn't look tangled or kinked at all. I would talk to the dealer that did the work. They probably had to move/yank on the shift cable and should address any concerns they caused.

the clear wiring is a string light. The photo is deceptive, it's not in the housing at all. I will ask the dealer - possibly even to move the shift cables out of the internal routing completely as it seems others online have had good success with that and sticky shifting has been an ongoing off/on problem now for the life of the bike

For me, I would say it depends how much you ride, the conditions, and if you want to DIY. A good cargo shop shouldn't be too worried about changing internal cabling, its just part of the job of being a cargo bike mechanic. We have fancy lifts and tools to help with this :)

If your local shop isn't a cargo specialist, you ride in a lot of crappy weather, or you want to do it yourself - run that housing externally!
