Hi everyone. I've been meaning to officially join this forum for a while and finally did!
I began my bike commuting journey as a college student in Philadelphia, and it quickly became an extremely important part of my life. When I was expecting my first child in 2022 I knew I wanted to bike commute with my family, and thankfully it was possible for us to purchase our cargo bike. We were living in Stuttgart, Germany, at the time and went with a Carqon Classic, also for the built-in door in the box (easier to get our large dog in and out!). So we brought the bike back to the U.S. with us in 2023 and the rest is history! I call it my "bike minivan" and it was such a good investment. We had our daughter Aidy in the bike from 3 months old thanks to a Maxi Cosi infant car seat bracket, and that was a huge benefit to be able to start biking with her so early.
We love living in RVA - there's also a great cargo bike scene here (e.g. see rva.cargo.bike over on Instagram) - but work is going to be bringing us to northern Virginia in September, so we are currently searching for our next place in the Arlington/Alexandria, VA, area. I expect we'll be putting down new roots there for a bit.
Happy to connect with folks on here & also happily accepting any/all tips for cargo biking in the Arlington/Alexandria area in terms of groups, best bike shops for service, etc.
