We are at the point where our 5 year old wants to ride everywhere and then suddenly doesn’t. So we have to end up having to strap it down to our front rack. How are you currently handling this and transport your child and their bike to and from?

Anyone carrying there’s like the yellow bakfiets?

I have been carrying my littles 16" bike vertically with an old Yakima down tube rack that I chopped down for length. I got really lucky in the rack mounted without too much fuss to the kid corral and bottom tube of the Big Dummys frame.

It's worked okay, but think it's maxed out what it can take without significant configuration change.

Aside from the clever DIY solutions, there is an over the top one as seen here:

I suppose you could clamp one end to your bike and the other to the kid's bike. I currently have a MC which has a built-in footrest based solution to strap down the front wheel of the kid's bike.

I've seen the Bakkie bag, there is also the Arkel version which looks less capable, but also the Red Rebane easy exo which seems to be the most versatile. But those all carry a price point in the triple digits and that to me is just too damn high :)
