Fenders are never long enough. This is a fact of bike. I've almost always run fender extenders on my bikes whether for keeping feet dry or protecting the rider behind me. Something that I started doing a a few years ago was using plumbing gasket custom cut as fender extenders/mud flaps. It comes in reasonable size sheets, 2 different materials and 2 different thicknesses, so you can match bikes, use the thinner material where it might need to be pushed around more, or heavy duty for serious conditions.

Here are a few examples. I've used the existing fender mounting bolts in my old Babboe with rubber cork, imperial #6 machine screws with finishing washers, and M3 bolts with anodized washers (for hobby RC cars), so you can match aesthetic even more.
