One of my biggest pieces of advice I have for people wanting to turn some car trips into bike trips is start with basic groceries.

We started with small items like bell peppers, peanut butter, milk, and toothpaste. Then slowly a full backpacks worth. After a few months, we finally decided to invest in a commuter bike with panniers and leave our mountain bikes at home. Fast forward a couple years we are fully car free and now have cargo bikes.

Here are a couple photos of those trips

Thanks for your pictures, Nacho, that's mostly what I use my bike for too. I've found one grocery bag in each of two panniers, plus one bag in my front basket carries most of what two of us need for the week, although I stop and get some fresh food midweek. It has the added benefit of making me plan ahead, too. The one thing I'm really glad to have is the double kickstand, to balance the loaded bike better.

Did the click and collect once so far with the cargo bike. Will probably do it again, but I've shifted to doing smaller more frequent trips to a nearer shop with the normal bike lately. Second that recommendation for a double kickstand. Very handy.

I’ve really come to enjoy those midweek trips and now starting plan them when meal prepping.

I gotta say, I do love the little conversations and questions I get with the people when they see a bike there to pick up food rather than the usual car.

I had one of the front end managers chase me down outside as I was loading my bike once, because he really wanted to tell me that he was looking forward to getting a cargo bike 😄

I love the colour scheme on the non-cargo bike! It's very cheerful!
