One of my biggest pieces of advice I have for people wanting to turn some car trips into bike trips is start with basic groceries.
We started with small items like bell peppers, peanut butter, milk, and toothpaste. Then slowly a full backpacks worth. After a few months, we finally decided to invest in a commuter bike with panniers and leave our mountain bikes at home. Fast forward a couple years we are fully car free and now have cargo bikes.
